BEIJING, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Beijing is promoting the establishment of an international mediation platform to solve commercial disputes during cooperation among the Belt and Road (B&R) countries, according to the 2020 China International Fair for Trade in Services.
The Beijing Retio Legal and Commercial Service Center for Belt and Road Initiative, which is in charge of building the platform, has accepted 2,444 cases and successfully mediated 1,310 cases by the end of August.
The center plans to build an online platform and offline mediation offices in the B&R countries within five to 10 years, with 1,000 Chinese and foreign professional mediators, said Wang Li, director of the center.
The center said Chinese enterprises urgently need legal, financial and other professional services while cooperating with the B&R countries. Established in October 2016, it has developed an online mediation system and cooperated with 61 domestic and overseas mediation offices.
"Our vision is to draw on the international experience of modern mediation and build a mediation system and operation platform with Chinese characteristics that meet the needs of international commercial dispute resolution," Wang said.
